Hindu Months of the Year

The below are the months in Hindu calendar and briefly explained which God/Godess is worshiped.

  1. Chaitra: In the first month of the Hindu calendar i.e. Chaitra month, along with the worship of Surya Dev, Lord Rama and Hanumanji, Mata Durga is worshipped. Chaitra Navratri fast is also observed in this month.
  2. Vaishakh: Lord Narasimha, Lord Parashuram, Mother Ganga, Chitragupta, Lord Kurma are also worshiped in the month of Vaishakh. At the same time, it is believed that Shri Sitaji was born on the Navami of Shukla Paksha of this month.
  3. Jyeshtha: In the third month of the Hindu calendar i.e. Jyeshtha, mainly mother Ganga, mother Dhumavati, Gaytri mata Gayatri Mata and Shani Dev are worshiped.
  4. Ashadha: Vamana is worshiped along with Lord Vishnu Srihari Vishnu in the fourth month of the Hindu calendar i.e. Ashadha. In this month the gods go to sleep. At the same time, ten Mahavidyas are worshiped in Ashadh Gupta Navratri in this month.
  5. Shravan: The fifth month of the Hindu calendar, named Shravan, has the importance of worshiping Lord Shiva. It is considered the month of Lord Shiva.
  6. Bhadrapada: Krishna Janmashtami is also celebrated along with Ganesh festival in Bhadrapada. According to the belief, Lord Krishna was born on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha this month. Ganesha and Shri Krishna are worshiped in this month. At the same time, Shri Radha is also worshiped in this month because she was also born in Bhadrapada.
  7. Ashwin: The seventh month of the Hindu calendar i.e. Ashwin month is considered to be the month of worship of Goddess and Shakti. On the one hand, Shardiya Navratri fasts are observed in this month. At the same time, due to the presence of Shradh Paksha in this month, Pitrudev is also worshiped. Keep in mind that Shradh Paksha starts from the full moon day of Bhadrapada.
  8. Kartik: The month of Kartik is considered dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. In this month, along with the time for Lord Vishnu to wake up from Yoga Nidra, Mahalakshmi is worshiped on the day of Deepawali in this month. At the same time, in some states, Goddess Kalika is also worshiped during this time. Dhanvantari Dev, Kuber, Yamdev, Chitragupta, Shri Krishna etc. are also worshiped in this month.
  9. Margashirsha: Gita Jayanti takes place in the ninth month of Hindu calendar i.e. Margashirsha month. Lord Krishna, Lord Dattatreya, Lord Satyanarayan are worshiped, Pitrudev worship, Bhairav ​​worship etc.
  10. Paush: Worship of Lord Vishnu and Surya is considered to be of special importance in the tenth month of Hindu calendar i.e. Paush month.
  11. Magha: Along with Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, Sun God is worshiped in the month of Magha. It is believed that by worshiping Lord Madhav in this month, the worshiper gets the fruits of Rajasuya Yagya. Gupt Navratri takes place in this month, 10 Maharoops of Mother Durga i.e. ten Mahavidyas are worshiped.
  12. Falgun: In the last ie 12th month of the Hindu calendar, along with the worship of Prahlad and Lord Narasimha, Shiva and Kamdeki are also worshiped. Mother Sita is also worshiped in this month because according to another belief, she was born on the Ashtami date of this month. Apart from being on Mahashivratri in this month, worship of Shri Radha and Krishna is also done.
