Chaitra Month
Chaitra month starts immediately after Holi. Chaitra is the first month of Hinduism.
Due to being full moon with Chitra constellation, it was named Chaitra (Chitranakshatrayukta Poornamasi Yatra Saha).
This year Chaitra has started on 19th March 2022 (according to North India Hindu Panchang). Chaitra month is known as Madhu month.
The youth of spring season is seen on earth in this month.
Rohini and Ashwini are zero constellations in Chaitra, working in them destroys wealth.
According to Mahabharata Discipline Parva Chapter 106
“Chaitran tu niyto maasmekabhakten yah kshipeta. Suvarnamanimuktadhaye Kule Mahati Jayate.
The one who spends the time of Chaitra month eating food according to the rules, he is born in a great family endowed with gold, gems and pearls.
Eating jaggery is forbidden in Chaitra. Eating neem leaves in the month of Chaitra purifies the blood, does not cause malaria.
According to Shiv Puran, donating cow in Chaitra removes physical, verbal and mental sins.
The month of Chaitra is auspicious for the prestige of God.
The new year begins with Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. There is a mythological belief behind the beginning of the Hindu New Year from the month of Chaitra that Lord Brahmadev started the creation of the universe from Chaitra Shukla Pratipada.
So that the universe continuously moves towards the light.

Lord Vishnu took the Matsya avatar during the day of Chaitra Shukla Pratipada in Vishkumbh Yoga in Revati Nakshatra. “Kritte cha prabhave chaitre pratipachukla pakshaga. Revtyam yoga-viskumbhe diva dwadash-nadika: .. Matsyarup Kumaryancha Avatarno Hari: Swayam.
Chaitra Shukla Tritiya and Chaitra Purnima are Manvadi dates. Charity and charity have special significance on this day.
In the Bhavishya Purana, the law of special Saraswati fast is described from Chaitra Shukla.
Navratri is celebrated from Chaitra Shukla Pratipada to Navami, in which there is a special law to worship Mother Jagatjanani along with keeping fast.
