Magh Shukla Saptami
Magh Shukla Saptami is on 07 February 2022 Monday.
Magh Shukla Saptami has been addressed by many names like Achala Saptami, Ratha Saptami, Arogya Saptami, Bhanu Saptami, Arka Saptami etc. and it is said to be a very beautiful day for the worship of Sun. Children Saptami fast is also observed on this day for the attainment of sons, protection of sons and son Abhyudaya.
According to Skanda Purana
Yasyan tithou ratham purvam praap devo divakarah such a date: purita vipraarmaghe or rathasaptami. 5.129
Tasyan dattam hutam chestam sarvamevaakshayam matam Sarvdaridryshamanam Bhaskarpreetye Matam 5.130
The date on which Lord Surya first ascended the chariot, has been described by the brahmins as the Saptami of the month of Magha, which is called Rathasaptami. All donations and sacrifices made on that date are considered to be inexhaustible. He is said to remove all kinds of poverty and means to please Lord Surya.
According to Bhavishya Purana, Lord Surya had appeared on the seventh day. They were born with the egg and they grew only while living in the egg. Due to living in the egg for a long time, he became famous as ‘Martand’.
According to Bhavishya Purana, Surya got his Bharya in Uttarkuru on Saptami Tithi, he got divine form only on Saptami Tithi and children were also received on this date, so Saptami Tithi is very dear to Lord Surya.
🙏🏻 Bhavishya Purana : Shri Krishna Uvacha Shuklapakse tu saptamyam yadadityadinam bhavet. Saptami Vijaya Naam Tavar Dattam Mahaphalam.
Chant stran danam home fasting. Sarve Vijayasaptampa Mahapatakanasanam.
Pradakshinam Yah Kurute Phalaih Pushpaurdivakaram. Sa sarvagunasampannam puvram pranotyanuttamam
🙏🏻 Lord Krishna says – Rajan! If there is Adityavar (Sunday) on Saptami Tithi of Shukla Paksha, then it is called Vijay Saptami. She is the destroyer of all sins. The actions of bath, charity, chanting, home and fasting done on that day are eternally fruitful. On that day, taking fruits, flowers etc. does circumambulation of Lord Surya. He gets a perfect son who has all the qualities.
In Narada Purana, Magh Shukla Saptami has been described as “Achla Vrat”. It is “Trilochan Jayanti”. This is called Rathasaptami. This is also called “Bhaskar Saptami”, which is like millions of solar eclipses. It is bathed at the time of Arunodaya. Bath should be done by keeping seven leaves of Aak and Plum on the head. It destroys the sins of seven births. This Saptami is also called “putradayak” fast. Lord Surya himself has said – ‘Whoever worships me lawfully on Magh Shukla Saptami, I will be more satisfied with him and I will be his son with my share’. That is why on that day, fast day and night with senses and after doing home on the second day, feed curd, rice, milk and kheer etc. to Brahmins.
In the Agni Purana, Agnidev says – On the seventh day of the bright half of the month of Magha, after making a lotus, Lord Surya should be worshiped in it. Due to this man becomes mournless.
🙏🏻 It is written in Chandrika “Suryagrahantuliya hi Shukla Maghasya Saptami. Arunodagayvelayayan Tasyan Snan Mahafalam”
That is, Magh Shukla Saptami is equivalent to a solar eclipse, there is a great effect of bathing in it at the time of sunrise.
According to Narada Purana “Arunodayawalayan Shukla Maghasya Saptami”. Prayage if the labytta is sahasrākgraha: sama. Aayne kotipunyam syallaksham tu vishuve phalam 112॥”
Vishnu has written in Chandrika also “ArunodayaVelayan Shukla Maghasya Saptami”. Prayage if labhyet kotisuryagrahai: sama”
That means, if Magh Shukla Saptami is attained at Prayag at the time of Arunoday, then the order is equivalent to solar eclipses.
In the Madaratna Bhavishyottara Purana it is said that “Maghe month sate pakse saptami kotibhaskara. dadyat snanarghadanabhyamayurarogyasampadah”
That is, the bright half of the month of Magha is equal to the seventh grade of the suns, in which the sun bathing charity provides life and health.
