Sankashti Til Chaturthi fast today
Sankashti Chaturthi will be celebrated on January 10 this time in the new year. It is also called Sakat Chauth and Til Chauth. This time Sankashti Chaturthi is falling on Tuesday, hence it will be called Angarki Sankashti Chaturthi. Along with Ganeshji, the special importance of worshiping Hanumanji has also been told on this day.

The Chaturthi that falls in the Krishna Paksha of every month is called Sankashti Chaturthi. Sankashti Chaturthi, which falls in the month of Magha, has special significance. This time Sankashti Chaturthi is considered to be even more special as it falls on Tuesday. Being on a Tuesday, it is called Angaraki Sankashti Chaturthi. On this day, mothers pray to Lord Ganesha wishing for the long life of their sons and observe Sakat Chauth fast. On this day, mothers keep a waterless fast and break the fast by offering Arghya to the moon at night.

Auspicious time of Sankashti Chaturthi
Sankashti Chaturthi fast will be observed on January 10, 2023, as per the time given in the Panchang. Sankashti Chaturthi will begin on January 10 at 12:09 am and end on January 11 at 2:31 am. This fast is opened after offering Arghya to the moon at night, so it would be unanimous to observe the date of this fast on 10th January. On January 10, the time of moonrise has been told at 8.41 pm.

Puja method of Sankashti Chaturthi
Before sunrise on Sankashti Chaturthi, take a bath with sesame water and then worship Lord Ganesha facing north. Offer sesame, jaggery, laddu, durva and sandalwood to Ganesha. Also offer Modak as bhog. Sesame has special importance in this fast, so there is a law to offer Arghya by mixing sesame in water. After fasting for the whole day, worship Ganesha again in the evening after sunset and then wait for the moonrise. After moonrise, the moon should be offered Arghya with sesame seeds, jaggery etc. The fasting person should break his fast only after this Arghya. Sesame prasad should be eaten after worshiping Ganesha. Those who do not keep fast should also worship Ganesha and eat things made of sesame in the evening.

Significance of Sankashti Chaturthi
The meaning of Sankashti Chaturthi is the Chaturthi that removes troubles. By observing this fast, Ganesha gets pleased and removes all our troubles and blesses the children with longevity. It is also believed that on this day in mythological times, Lord Shiva removed the troubles of Ganesha by applying the head of an elephant, since then this day was worshiped as Sankashti Chaturthi. On this day fasting is also observed along with worship of Lord Ganesha and storytelling.

Story of Til Koot Sankashti Chaturthi
