Yamraj’s Death

Yamraj is considered to be the god of death, if Yamraj himself is the god of death, then how is his death possible? This thing sounds funny, but a story of his death has been told in Vedas and Puranas. Before telling this, it is very important to know something about Yamraj. Yamraj had a twin sister also known as Yamuna. Yamraj rides a buffalo and Yamraj is worshiped with different names such as Yama, Dharmaraja Death, Terror, Vaivasvat and Kaal!!

“Long ago there was a white sage who was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva and resided on the banks of river Godavari. When the time of his death came, Yama Dev sent death pass to take his life but Svetmuni did not want to give up his life now. Then he started chanting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra.When the death loop reached the white monk’s ashram, he saw that Bhairon Baba was guarding outside the ashram !!

“Being bound by religion and obligation, as soon as the death pass tried to kill the sage, then Bhairav ​​Baba made the death pass unconscious by striking, he fell to the ground and died seeing that Yamraj became very angry. He himself came and tied Bhairav ​​Baba to the death lap, then in order to kill the white Muni, he also put a death sentence on him, but the white Muni called his presiding deity Mahadev and Mahadev immediately sent his son Kartikeya !!

On the arrival of Kartikeya, there was a fierce battle between Kartikeya and Yama Dev, Yamraj could not stand in front of Kartikeya and fell to the ground due to Kartikeya’s attack and died. On meditating, it came to know that against the wishes of Lord Shiva, he wanted to kill the white sage, due to which Yamraj had to face the wrath of Lord Bhole!!

Yamraj is the son of Sun God and to solve this problem, Sun God went to Lord Vishnu, Lord Vishnu suggested to please Lord Shiva by doing penance. Went and asked him to give a darshan and ask for a boon, then the Sun God said that “O Mahadev, after the death of Yamraj, there is a huge imbalance on the earth, revive Yamraj to maintain the balance on the earth !!

“Lord Shiva ordered Yamuna water from Nandi and sprinkled it on the body of Yamdev, which made him alive again.
